Heartburn No More ! top Acid Reflux & Heartburn

Acid reflux is a disease characterized by stomach acid backing up into the esophagus and the pain associated with this will cause a sufferer to ask how to get rid of acid reflux. Acid is used in the digestive process to break food down into substances that the body can use for energy. If the acid enters the esophagus through leakage of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) the acid will produce a burning sensation on the sensitive skin in the canal. If you have morethan two episodes in a week’s time the doctor will diagnose the condition as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

You may experience nausea, a burning sensation, a sour taste in the throat, regurgitation of stomach contents, and chest pain.

The steps below are suggestions on how to treat acid reflux. The treatments are simple and should bring you relief. If you cannot manage the symptoms with the suggestions below or the symptoms become worse you should speak with your health care provider.

Step 1: You should avoid the consumption of certain trigger foods. Some of these are high in acid content and will exacerbate the condition. Tomatoes, citrus fruits and cranberries are all some of the foods high in acid content.

Step 2: Try to avoid beverages that contain caffeine. Caffeine can stimulate the production of acid in the stomach causing the burning sensation described as heartburn.

Step 3: This discussion cannot avoid weight control when suggesting how to treat acid reflux. If you are overweight the added pounds will put pressure on the LES and can weaken the muscle allowing stomach contents to back up into the esophagus.
